why can't the english team do a morris dance or the birdy song dance?

i know it's very stupid, but wouldn't it be great to hear the crowd at twickenham chanting: dah nanananan, dah nananan nanananana na na na na, while the english team did the birdy dance. it would counteract the intimidation of the haka and truely sum up the english national characteristic of pricking the bubles of pomposity.

They probably could if they wanted to but with the All Blacks it's a traditiion, isn't it? I can't see the English rugby team doing a ruddy morris dance or the birdy song before they play at Twickers, can you? They'd be a laughing stock all round the world. lol.

The dingos have started playing waltz sing matilda before they kick off and after the haka.... no reason the English couldn't do something similar. The haka is about laying down a challenge though and should be respected, other teams are welcome to lay down a challenge before or after.

because no-one else thought of it before the K1W1s did.besides that it's a tradition of the maoris to do the haka before they go into battle(war etc) and the allblacks used to be composed mainly of maoris and still are a very important part of the team.what'd you think it was a rain dance.you must be a pahkea(sorry about the spelling guys)

I agree with you 100%. Personally, I think it should be "ring-a-ring-a-roses"

This could be extended to other international matches, so the Morris Dancing could fill a happy hour to bore the Scots, and we could have Chas and Dave before the Welsh match to show that we can sing as well.

They would have to do sonething that would intimidate the opposition.

I suggest they parade the Wags of the team.
Let's say as polite as possible and that some of them are not quite as pretty as the English football team wags.

Have you ever seen some of the Morris Dancing Troupes that tour around England? There is one group I was forced to watch (I had shed loads of pints shoved in my hands so it helped) who paint heir faces with black charcoal stripes and wear mostly black with red arm bands. They are FIERCE! They would make the opposition poo their pants!

My school rugby team does the hokey cokey in the changing room before most matches, today we forgot to do it and lost. I think England should do it on the pitch.
