we had to relight the pilot light yesterday and now when we havnt got the heating or water on the pilot light is making a slight noise still! It never used to make a sound at all the only noise we heard from it was when we turned on heating and hot water! is this normal or should we get it checked out?

The pilot light heats a thick wire which is the probe of an instrument called a thermo-couple. If this is not hot enough or receives heat erratically, (pop pop sound), then the pilot light needs turning up or cleaning out.

If it's a'fluttering' noise then it's probably a partially blocked pilot jet. which would also explain why it went out, You need to get it seviced by a Corgi registered engineer.
