1. Not really, because we have a very generous annual leave entitlement. The law gives us four weeks (20 working days for most office workers). A lot of people get 25 days and more for length of service. So when a calendar month has 22 or 23 working days, we are looking at a nation of workers who have over one month off every year, and at times we can largely choose. On top of that we have eight public holidays, and the three which can fall at weekends are protected by days in lieu. This then becomes 33 days (25+8), which is the equivalent of 1½ months out of 12, or one day in every eight.

2. When you look at the USA, for example, what they have is rubbish (or should I say garbage?). It is something like this. They have lots of public holidays - I forget how many, but let's say 16. None of those days are protected so maybe 12 fall on weekdays. On top of that they get two weeks holiday (10 days). The result is they get a total of 22 working days which is the equivalent of 1 month out of 12, or one day in every twelve. I know which I find more attractive.

3. Maybe we don't get the best overall leave, but I bet we are amongst the top nations of the world.

We should have more patriotic days and sod anyone who doesn't like it. The whole idea of offending the french on Trafalgar day what a mockery of our culture and history.
I hate it when they alter historical facts so not to offend people, bugger them!

Yes, but we wouldn't be able to have proper ones because it would upset the French - Waterloo Day, Trafalgar Day, Agincourt Day, Crecy day - see what I mean?
