Get some old clothes, jumper, trousers, tying the armholes and legholes up. Stuff with newspaper and or straw. Make a ball off newspaper in a carrier bag. Draw a face on card, or buy a mask. Stick a pole straight through the body, place a hat on top and pop on the top of the bonfire.

You need old clothes - a sweater and a pair of trousers, some old socks (or shoes) and gloves.

Stuff them with balled up newspaper or straw so they stand out like there's a shape inside them and tie off the legs and armholes. Tack the sweater to the wasitband of the trousers. Stuff the old socks and tack/tie them to the trouser legs for feet. Stuff the gloves and tack/tie them to the sleeves for hands

For the head you can use a paper bag stuffed with newspaper and shaped into an oval shape. Twist the bottom to make a "neck" and tack it to the top of the sweater.

Decorate the face as Tony Blair (which is what most of us are doing this year) or Osama Bin Laden or George Bush or anyone else who you want to chuck on the bonfire!!! You can use a cheap mask from a toy shop but its more fun to decorate it yourself.

It's like a scarecrow. Get old trousers and a jumper, stuff with straw, tie on some old shoes and gloves for hands. A paper bag makes a reasonable head.
