Alexander destroyed what Cyrus created, he was a destroyer, a cruel man.
But Cyrus was a spiritual man. This is why he is greater.

Cyrus - As leader of the Persian people in Anshan, he conquered the Medes and unified the two separate Iranian kingdoms; as the king of Persia, he reigned over the new empire from 559 BC until his death. The name Cyrus is a Latin transliteration of the Greek word Κῦρος....yes you are right he created a great empire and kingdom - the largest nation ever - from Asia Minor to just below the Causcus Mountains to Pakistan...Alexander on the other hand:

was one of, if not the most successful military commanders in history!!! Before his death, he conquered most of the world known to the ancient Greeks; he is regarded as one of the greatest military strategists and tacticians who ever lived!!! Alexander is also known in the Zoroastrian Middle Persian work Arda Wiraz Nāmag as "the accursed Alexander" due to his conquest of the Persian Empire and the destruction of its capital Persepolis. He is known as Eskandar in Persian, Dhul-Qarnayn (The two-horned one) in Middle Eastern traditions, al-Iskandar al-Kabeer in Arabic, Sikandar-e-azam in Urdu, Skandar in Pashto, Alexander Mokdon in Hebrew, and Tre-Qarnayia in Aramaic (the two-horned one), apparently due to an image on coins minted during his rule that seemingly depicted him with the two ram's horns of the Egyptian god Ammon. He is known as Sikandar in Urdu and Hindi, a term also used as a synonym for "expert" or "extremely skilled"....he is known by these nicknames because he was the greatest..............just like sports teams & fans fear the best opposition player nowdays and have reputations b4 they are seen because they are so good...

Alexander would conquer the Persian Empire, including Anatolia, Syria, Phoenicia, Judea, Gaza, Egypt, Bactria and Mesopotamia and extend the boundaries of his own empire as far as the Punjab
Alexander integrated foreigners (non-Macedonians, non-Greeks known as the Successors) into his army and administration, leading some scholars to credit him with a "policy of fusion." He encouraged marriage between his army and foreigners, and practised it himself.
His conquests ushered in centuries of Greek settlement and rule over distant areas, a period known as the Hellenistic Age. Alexander himself lived on in the history and myth of both Greek and non-Greek cultures....

...I think you opening line says it all: "You know Alexander so better say who Cyrus was!" - The world knows Alexander better not because of Hollywood movies, but because he was the greatest!

- probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it is the truth...

Apart from everything that is said in favour of Alexander, one must know that he is one of the few generals in history that has never lost a single battle. He also managed to create his own empire in a few years. He was the greatest

alexander was great because he was an excellent commander at that time, this doesent mean that he was good in all fields.
and if cyrus was good in some field he must have lacked in some but, we cannot say who was greater than other because we are not even 1/10th of their personility and talent.
