streetfighter is a good one- the fight scene between vega and chun li is a killer one. if you want to try something more extreme and hardcore though, then legend of the overfiend could be your bag. not for me personally, its too graphic and not to my taste unfortunately. but you can give that a wizz alongside, streetfighter.

X, Ghost in the shell, Akira and Ninja Scroll are all very good classic violent anime movies. Personally I prefer them in Japanese with subtitiles but there are dubbed versions of all these movies available. Some of your other answerers have suggested Samurai X which is a 4 part series and is fantastic and is a much darker prequel to the long running series Rurouni Kenshin which I loved. If you are looking for series it is also worth checking out Samurai deeper Kyo, Scryed and Hellsing (all available with both English or Japanese Dub).

Elfen Lied aint a action movie like FOTNS. But it sure is violent. Gantz is quite violent as well. But those arent movies. Havent seen a good violent anime movie in a long time. Nor have i seen a martial arts anime that has some good violence like FOTNS.

Try Ninja Scroll, loads of blood and bodies being ripped apart plus it is a really good story and screenplay for a manga film

Theres a Manga night in Leeds every two weeks which is a really good way to see all the available work that might be difficult to get to see otherwise
