from the edge of the object.. put your compass see to it, it is zero. then mark the 50th degrees. remove your compass then draw a line from the center and put a line to it. then do the same. but your compass is on the line you draw.

While it is true that it is not possible, in general, to trisect any given angle with the use of only a straight edge and compass, you obviously can trisect some angles. For instance, 90 degrees can be trisected since you can construct an angle of 30 degrees. So, the real question is whether you can construct 50 degrees. Now, I happen to rememember that 20 degrees is not constructible. And if 50 degrees were constructible, then 20 degrees would be constructible too. So, the answer to your question is that it is not possible to trisect an angle of 150 degrees by using only a compass.
