channel 4 nypd and fire dept series?

can anyone please tell me the name of a tv series which was on at lunchtime straight after ER. It was about the new york police dept and also the fire dept. It was a brilliant series that i imagine was once on in the evening as it was very serious and not really a day time tv type of programme. I'd really like to get hold of the series on dvd but just can't get the actual name of it. please help it's driving me mad x

Third Watch... you can see it on A&E network in the daytime
