I think Egypt is an amazing country. I like it so much for so many reasons...
The weather is great in my opinion and the sea is wonderful! A summer vacation at The Red Sea was so pleasant experience for me and my Egyptian friends say the same for their vacations on The North Coast (Mediterranean). Yet this is just a beginning...
There is such a great cultural heritage there, like in few other places in the world. Pyramids, Sphinx, temples in Luxor and other places are all so amazing. The tradition is also very interesting. One of the most fascinating traditions is the magic dance of dervishes.
But there is even more than "just" a rich history and tradition...
Contemporary Egypt is a very exciting place. People in general are very kind and friendly and also very communicative. Local cuisine is awesome and Arabic music as well. Cairo and Alexandria themselves are more than just worth seeing. I fell in love with those cities, Alex especially, and I can't wait to go and see them again!
Finally, I want to point out the great safety in Egypt. For example, according to the statistics, Cairo is one of the safest cities in the world.
The only thing that is not nice about Egypt is poverty. Many people are very poor, which is sad, but they still seem to be happy in spite of that, which is wonderful. I plan to go to Egypt again and again and get to know people and the country even better.

I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. I spent 3 months in Egypt and enjoyed it. Obviously, living standards outside of rich neighborhoods are not the same as one might be used to in Western Europe or North America, but that is to be expected.
With the exception of some boys in Cairo (who seem to have a habit of daring each other to touch Western women) and pushy merchants in Luxor (tourism is really their only business there), everyone was very friendly and welcoming (I spent most of my time in a more rural area). I spoke little to no Arabic when I got there, but picked up a little more along the way and had some oddly mixed Arabic-English conversations with some people, which helped me learn more. Such conversations were always friendly.
Compared to most of Europe or North America, it is a very poor country, and also has more "red tape" than any other country I've been too. Some people will complain that you "have to" tip everyone. This is not true. You may be asked for a tip or "baksheesh" very often, but that does not mean you have to pay the person! Be nice and polite, but not a sucker, unless you have a lot of money to give away. "Baksheesh" is often misinterpreted in English as "tips," but really its more of a cross between "tips" and "alms" for the poor. It's simply expected of rich people to give away money to those who are poorer, but it is not a requirement. Besides, can you really blame children for asking you for candy and pens all the time? Pens are actually quite hard to get and expensive in Egypt, so they're a good thing to give away if you're so inclined.
Overall, I really loved Egypt and plan on going back. If you want to know anything else about Egypt or visiting there, post again and I'll be happy to answer.

I'm an American who has lived in Egypt on two occasions and visits it often. It's a fascinating country, with a rich history, complex culture, and warm, friendly people. There are many opportunities for someone not only to enjoy himself there (the Pyramids at Giza and Sakkara, the beautiful mosques, the Egyptian Museum, Luxor temples, tombs on West Bank at Luxor, etc. but also to do some good since the poverty in some areas and among parts of the population is so great that a simple act of charity can go a long way to helping someone. And also your perspective on life might be favorably changed by seeing things from a different point of view if you happen to be Eurocentric. This can lead to any number of positive things for yourself and others. If you have any chance to go to Egypt, do it. You won't regret it.

I live in Egypt and personally I think it's ok, but of course everybody I've met abroad who have visitited Egypt have found it fascinating and everything. Maybe it's just because I've lived here for almost all my life so I'm sort of used to it.
But we do have some awesome history over here which makes it worth visiting. Like the pyramids, the sphinx, the museums too, but if you do come here and are interested in it's history then also visit Luxor and Aswan (if you have the time) they're not that far from Cairo.
If you're just looking for like a beach environment and just partying and stuff then go to Sharm El-Sheikh
Winter is the best time in Egypt for me because it isn't hot like in the summer.
