I think that some women like you are describing have never had to develop any other positive qualities (compassion, etc.). They are beautiful on the outside and learn from a very young age that their beauty can get them virtually anywhere. Unfortunately, by the time the beauty fades, the habits of narcissism are so deeply ingrained that it's too late to develop any of the other personal qualities that are deemed attractive.

You, as a man, have a lot to do with it. Do some research and thinking and read Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex. She has many thought-provoking observations on the topic of narcissism in women. By the way, many men are narcissistic too but they believe they need to conceal it because they'll be judged by some of the same negative standards they themselves use against women.

If they weren't beautiful on the outside they wouldn't have much to be narcisstic about, would they?

Because they're alone and empty and replace inner happiness with external beauty-they're insecure and unaccepting of their true identities, and prefer to indulge in narcissistic and mean behaviours rather than open up to people and face the possibility of rejection.

I don't blame them.Everyone hurts, and we all show it in one way or another without even realising.

Beautiful women are narcissists, because a narcissist is over self-absorbed with their own physicality.

(Incidentally, Rosie O’Donnell goes beyond narcissism, she's a megalomaniac.)

I think you'll find that if they weren't pretty on the outside they would be far less inclined to even be narcissistic.

maybe because that's why they're narcissistic? they're narcissists BECAUSE they are beautiful LOL that's pretty much how the term narcissism came to be, was because Narcissis fell in love with himself/his reflection
