Heating the sand with a strong solution of Hydrochloric acid will remove most of the impurities:

Fe2O3 + 6HCl --> 2FeCl3 + 3H2O

Al2O3 + 6HCl --> 2AlCl3 + 3H2O

The chlorides formed can then be removed by rinsing with warm water.

Silica does not react.

Sand whether it is silica sand or quartz sand will have two type of Iron content Free Iron and combined Iron like Fe2Sio4. ree iron can be removed by simple magnet.
Al2O3 if it is in combined state of Al2Sio3 it can't be removed.
Only Al2O3 as itself wil be removed by density separation simple isn't it.
