my wife is el salvadorian and she says that it would be a good thing if the usa took over it end the curpt system which is alot worse than us you can kill someone for a little money cops care nothing

The US tried this about 100 years ago. You should look it up. Also consider that transcontinental highway Lou Dobbs is always talking about, and its possible long term effects.

Mexico will have to want to become a state, and that probably will never happen. There is too much pride in Mexican independence to ever see it become a part of another country again. Also, the United States would have to want to take in Mexico as a state. The amount of money the federal government would have to invest in improving the infrastructure, establishing new state capitols and federal complexes, providing the education and training needed to allow Mexican residents to become functional Americans, and general improvement to the region's water, electricity, public safety systems would dwarf any aid we could possibly consider sending to Mexico.

That is actually a very good idea. I would go even further threaten Iraqis that if they don't get their act together the unemployed (after the US takeover) Mexican politicians will be sent to govern Iraq instead, that will teach them a lesson. Don't tell me Mexicans won't overwhelmingly vote for the Union .

Do you realize what a mess Mexico is? It's cheaper to give it foreign aid to keep our neighbor to the south friendly than it ever would be to make it a state.

Mexico is a sovereing state and it is very hard for the US to make it as a state.
