I am in Yahoo or Gmail and click on a news story....the window will open but it is small and I must maximize to read it. How do I change the settings where the window will open up to full screen?

None of these suggestions work. Please suggest more. Whenever a new window opens up, it will always be small. Next time, it is minimized again. Why? I have searched all over. How do I change the settings?

or alt + space bar then press X

Close all maximised windows but keep the smaller one open. With your mouse, drag each corner of the smaller window to the edge of your monitor to make it maximised, then click on File>>Close.
Et voila - try again!!!

Try clicking F11
