The small piles just appear by themselves, we have no pets, they arent being brought in on peoples shoes, we have no gravel around the house.

Extra info: Its not mice, its not insects. It is definitely small piles of tiny mixed stones. They appear already piled, sometimes within an hour of vacuuming. They have appeared upstairs and downstairs, on carpeted wooden floors and carpeted solid floors. They can appear at all times of day or night. Trust me, its not insects or droppings.

Place a mirror on the floor where it won't be disturbed by people or drafts. Make a circle of salt on the mirror, place a small cup of water at its center. Leave it for twenty-four hours.
If you are having a visitor or visitors, there might be a communication.

Well, I don't know where you live, but I've heard this happens where Indians used to live. Supposedly, they are to keep the people who live there, safe. So if this is true, just relax and know you are being kept safe by the spirit of the Indians who once lived where you "now" live, okay?
P.S. Yes, I am Cherokee Indian. Oh, and the less publicity you bring into this, the better, no pictures of any kind.

The borrowers have come to stay. With their rockery. Or it could be a tiny poltergeist. Is your house built on an ancient mouse burial ground?

Frankly, the mysterious pebble piles sound like a spiritual poltergeist constructed by a playfully shy child's ghost.

Do you have a textured ceiling? Perhaps some of the texture is falling onto the carpeting.

Interesting!! Are you sure they are stones? How big are they? How big is the 'pile'?
I think you need to set up a video camera to see what's going on!
Are they always in different places?
