It will certainly be interesting to find out, and be told why or why not!
A strange thought crossed my mind while reading your question! Would Hitler have been given the death penalty? And if Germany had won the last world war would Churchill and the allied leaders have been given the death penalty?

Your question presupposes that Saddam will be found guilty, and along with most of the rest of the world, I believe he is indeed guilty. His atrocities are well known and recorded.
I'm left wondering how completely unbiased a judge and jury could possibly be......
If he is found guilty his end, whatever method the judge rules, will not be as prolongued or as painful as he (allegedly, of course) afflicted on many others.

he should be hung or shot for the crimes he has done to his own people but i think the USA and the UK will be against this as i think that this would cause more violence in Iraq if he is shot or hung i think he will be sent to prison to rot in a dark horrible place but we all know that will not happen he will have everything in his cell does crime pay that's the answer

He could but that won't mean much now will it. Think of all the people on death row now and how long they have been there. He will most likely die in prison.

My gut tells me: yes, although I think it would be a mistake. Life imprisonment better takes away his role as martyr, and, I believe, will result in less turmoil.

he should - I dont know how you can be responsible for the cold blooded murder of hundreds of people and get off WITHOUT the death sentence. Just doesnt make sense.

Everything belongs to America's interest. If America has still interest in his living, he will be imprisoned. Otherwise, he will be killed and the drama will go to "The End".
