Try this (1) Right click your mouse (2) Select properties (3) Select setting (3) Where it says screen area move the slider till it says 1024 by 768 pixels, then where it says colour select True colour (24bit). This worked for me. If this don't work then try this, Load Windows M.E disc and start it to install, you won't loose any thing that is already on your computer, but you may have to re-install some updates, as this resets all the Windows settings.
Hope this helps

The option for me to get Boot Menu us F5 and it should be pressed before you see Starting Windows ME or after your system has finished checking your RAM.
Some Systems allow F5 and some does Shift F5. I used to have ME and if you restart it and it goes to safe mode again and again the best option is see if you have registry backup. If you have Installed new softwares, especilly dll files a registry backup is created automatically (not sure about OEM version of ME) but give it a try and search for reg commands or registry backup on google. It will help you a lot.
try uninstalling the recent software and if you can get to step by step configuration after you press F5 then hopefully you can diagonise the device or device driver causing the problem.
Another solution is to Unplug all devices except Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor and CPU and then reboot it. If you get something good then plug other devices one by one and check if something is wrong with any of them. Some printer drivers dont allow Windows ME to boot properly.

Gosh, u r in trouble then. If you cant get out of safe mode it means that the settings have been changed. When you go to reboot do you have options as to what to do next? xp wont support ME so i really dont know what to suggest. Can you get someone to take a look for you?

First, back up all files/folders that you need onto a CD or another media device (if possible). Reboot the PC and if given the option, start it in Normal mode. Get rid of ME and install XP ;)

Sounds like all you need to do is reboot your system. When you started having problems your system went to safe mode for protection.

You could try using the "System Restore" function available from Accessories - System tools. Restore your system back to a point before it went wrong.
