Someone told me that Japan has a 2000 Yen note as well as the 1000, 5000 and 10 000.

Is there such a thing as a 2000 Yen note?

It's actually pretty! I'd have to agree that they may not be that popular though. The English volunteer group in my city meets at my house regularly for meetings. They pitch in for snacks and tea and give me 2000 yen, usually in this 2000 yen note! I just take them to the bank and deposit them.
Hope this helps!♡

Yes , The 2000 yen note was only recently introduced. This year I think. Apparently it is not very popular. One of the reasons is vending machines do not accent them. I have only seen on or two so far . I suppose if they are not popular they all must still be in the bank.

Yep, if you want a 2000 yen bill you can go to a bank and exchange your money for it. 2000 yen notes were big for us when we go scavenger hunting coz the list always asks for a 2000 yen bill.

Yes there are, they have a scene from the tale of Genji on the back.
They were first printed in 2000 and are not rare.
I don't like it when I get the 2000 yenner from my ATM they cant be used in vending machines or to buy subway tickets they are a little like the 2 dollar bill. nice to look at but really kind of useless.

I've got two of them somewhere around my apartment as souvernirs. They are rare but I've seen them handed out as change when they were re-printed recently. I think many people hold on to them so they quickly go out of circulation like the $2 bill in the states.

As someone already mentioned the 2000 yen bill has the tale of the genji printed on it.

There is such a thing as a 2,000 yen note but it isn't common. There aren't many of them in circulation.

Yes. But you don't see them very often. I think I've been given them twice as change and I've lived here for more than 8 years.
