Many Thanks for giving your valuable time to read my Question; I am 9 Months Pregnant. My Delivery date was 30/10/2006, which is already crossed. Now it’s 04/11/2006 today but so far there is no indication of delivery, Doctors are ready to make Cesarean tomorrow. Please let me know what I should do? Is there any other way for natural delivery? Also let me know is there any danger for me or my baby if I go for Cesarean or if I don’t?

Do you mean 10/30/2006?

I went 2 weeks past my due date when the doc talked about inducing my labor. I got lucky though. The morning i was suppose to be induced (at 6 in the morn,) i went into labor (at like 3 or 4).

Don't let it these sites scare you, I am sure everything will be okay

One question though...Why does he/she want to do a C-section?

Why do they want to do the cesarean? Is there a reason they don't want to induce labor? Usually when you go two weeks past your delivery date they will induce. With my first pregnancy I was two weeks past due. They were going to induce but first they did an ultrasound and found out the baby was breech. So, i had to have the cesarean. But if you have no problems then I'm not sure why they wouldn't induce.

There is a lot of controversy over c-sections. There are many women who will tell you how terrible they are. But women have them all the time. I agree, it isn't the ideal situation. One should deliver vaginally if at all possible but if one must go the c-section route it isn't a big deal. You'll be fine.

It is common to go over your due date don't worry about that ,you must need a cesarean or they wouldn't be doing it ,there is no easy way to have a baby ,if you have to do it this way you will be fine ,don't eat anything and try to stay calm ,the cesariean will not hurt you and you will have a beautiful baby tomorrow night .It will be pain full after for a week or two and you will not be completely able to lift heavy things for 6 weeks. But you will get thro this ,the fear is worse than the operation. You can not really make the labor start ,sometimes just resting can start it ,If you need a cesarean and do not go ,you could risk your life and the babys.

OK, firstly congratulations, I will try to answer your questions as best possible so bear with me,
CAESAREAN- Elective caesarean, Conutrary to popular belief this is not the "easy way out". A caesarean section is major abdominal surgery and should be really only be as a last resort. It basically involves an incision being made in the mother's abdomen and in the uterus so that the baby can be lifted out. It may be preformed under general anaesthethic, but if you have an epidural you may be able to remain conscious throughout.
Elective caesareans are usually preformed for one, or a combination, of the following reasons:
*Placenta praevia (low-lying placenta); * baby is in an abnormal position; * active genital herpies infection; * known cephalopelvic disproportion (the baby's head is to big for the mothers pelvis); * problems with a previous birth; * diabetes (sometimes); * breech presentation (often); * poor placental function.
EMERGENCY CAESAREAN- an emergancy caesarean is preformed if: * Labour becomes prelonged; * the baby's head does not decend; * the mother or baby is destressed; * the cord prolapses (the cord slips down first and the baby's circulation could be sut off); * there is excessve bleeding.

If the only reason you are going to have a caesarean is because your over your expected due date and you have none of what I've mentioned then ask to be induced naturally so you can try for a natural birth before having the caesarean as the last resort.

Sex is a good way to try and induce labour as the semen softens the cervix and the gel they use to indue labour is an artifucial semen. Oviously walking isn't much of an option as your going in tomorrow, but squats against a wall and with the help of a chair to help you back up. Gravity is a wonderful induction.

I can't tell you what to do but if this was me I would try everything before going for a caesarean as the natural birth was much better as you recover much quicker and everything is natural, ofcourse unless there was a risk to my baby that would be the only way they would get me into surgery. My daughter was breech at 36 weeks and I tried everything to make her turn so I could have a natural birth and lucky for me I suceeded and was able to have her naturaly 6 days after she turned. I would really drill the doctors to try and induce you naturally before going for the caesarean as the caesarean is always there if problems with the natural induecing doesn't work but at leasted you know you did try your best for a natural birth and it just wasn't ment to be. I would rather know in myself I gave it my best shot rather then wondering later on if natural was possible.

Good luck and I wish you all the very best for the birth of your baby hope everything goes wonderfully and as you wish, don't let the doctor tell you this is what they prefer as it may be just easier, if its possible to go natural and thats what you want to do give it your best shot. Thats all you can do. Let me know what happens and what you choose. Good luck.

Why are they doing a cesarean instead of trying to break your water or induce you? My daughter is 18 days old and with her they took me in, broke my water, started pitocin and she was born within 4 1/2 hours. Tell your doctor you really don't want to have a C section and ask them to discuss all of your options with you.

i just had a c section 2 weeks ago. There is no danger to the baby or you. I had to have a c section because i was diagnoised with preclampsia. Everything should be ok. Good luck and congratulations.
