I've never been but I want to go. The beaches are suppose to be beautiful. One of the best beaches in the world. Plus Filipinos are kind and the girls are cute.

A paradise in the island's paradise !
You got to go there, hmmmmmmmm....
Boracay - Beach Capital Of The Philippines
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The palm-studded island of Boracay – with its white, talcum-fine beach, balmy weather, and warm, crystalline waters – is like a hypnotic magnet. In this tiny, butterfly-shaped island at the northwestern tip of Panay in Western Visayas, days can be spent simply lazing on the beach while nights are for indulging in the tropical party lifestyle.
The best part of the island is the four-kilometer White Beach hailed as the “finest beach in the world.” The surrounding water is shallow and the sand is finer and brighter than most beaches in the archipelago. White Beach is so, soooo fine, it feels like treading on miles of baby powder!
The code in Boracay is strictly informal. There is an undeniably easy atmosphere in the island, where walking barefoot than shod is the rule rather than the exception. Even swinging discos have the beach for a floor, giving dance a new twist. There are no hang-ups here. During the day, tourists having a soothing massage under the shade of a coconut tree beside the shoreline is a common sight. And from dusk to dawn, Boracay turns into one big party place where everyone is welcome to join in. But first, let’s toast that sunset cocktail!
Diversions are not a problem, with leisure activities calendared throughout the year and amenities offered by some 350 tourist establishments. There is plenty to do other than beachbumming and partyhopping. For the adventure-driven, there is ""Mambo Number 5"" – a little bit of boating and wind surfing, a little bit of scuba diving, a little bit of trekking, a little bit of mountain biking, and a little bit of golf. On the eastern side of the island is Bulabog Beach, a boardsailor’s mecca that draws enthusiasts from all over the world, especially during the peak season from November to March. In January, it is the site of an International Funboard Cup.
Sailboating and kayaking are popular sporting activities, with Boracay playing host to the annual Paraw Regatta, an international sailboat race that makes use of the native outrigger. Dive sites surround the island and are learning venues to both novice and professional divers, guided by competent instructors of the many dive shops that operate in the area.
Trekking and mountain biking can also bring the intrepid to the island's quaint interior villages and to the edges' scenic rocky cliffs, discovering along the way many hidden coves with isolated beaches far from the tourist crowd. And for golf bugs, Fairways and Bluewater Resort Golf and Countryclub has an 18-hole championship course.

I am a Filipino & had attended a convention there 5 years ago. Like you , I dont have any idea of Boracay before. All we know is that there are beaches there. Even those who attended the convention didnt expect the place to be like that.
Let me share my experience with you. After flying from Manila & arriving at the airport, we rode a bus! After the bus trip, you will ride a motor boat which will bring you to the beach front where you will be checking in. Wear shorts! Others wore pants & it got wet.
When we arrived we were escorted to our room. Dont expect 5 star hotels over there. In the cottage we stayed, there was no aircon but the air was really fresh. The room was made of wood described as simple but cozy.
We registered for the convention. For the usual convention, you will expect to dress up. We were walking on the sandy beach & brought along a shoes as hand carry. After walking for quite a while, finally we reached a small road. We were asking for jeepneys or taxis. There was none! You will ride in a tricycle. Upon reaching the place, evrybody where in their beach attire & slippers. Some people also brought their shoes & dresses with them. We didnt know that we will really be wearing slippers & shorts or short pants in the convention.
During one of the dinners, we stayed beach front, mats are laid down on the sand & we sat there while eating in wooden tables. What an experience it was! We had a candle lighted dinner.
The following day ,we were in a hurry to attend the convention. We remembered locking our door. During lunchtime, our friend wasnt feeling well so she decided to stay in our cottage. We were shocked when she texted us that our room was fully open. We immediately asked what was lost & we were surprised that there was none. We were thankful that none of our things got lost. Boracay then is safe! But that was 5 years ago, the present situation is different.
One afternoon, we decided to have a massage. It was fun, some ladies will give you a massage under the tree in the sandy shoreline. What an experience again!
We went boating one morning & went to Station 1 were the action is. We collected some sand! We compared it later with the sand in Station 3. The sand in station 1 was finer. It was as fine as a detergent soap.
We had breakfast there, it was good but it was quite expensive. There may be newer restaurants now which may be cheaper but since the place is a tourist spot, definitely people would take advantage.
As you walk down the shoreline, there is a strip where you can buy cheap bracelets & other ornamentals.
It is a vacation I wont forget. Here you will feel refreshed away from the buzzling city life. Life is too simple over here.

Hi! boracay is a small very fine whitesands island, clear water, great coral reefs,a lot of resorts from cheapest to expensive ones - depends on the season and location. There are nearby islets that you can go island hopping, snorkeling and dive. It's a 1 hour flight from Manila (capital city of the Philippines) and a 5-10 minutes land travel going to pier and a 20 minutes boat ride going to boracay island. If you're planning to go on summer, its a peak season so you need to reserve in advance so that you can choose a resort that will suit your budget. for further assistance and information you may need, pls email me at lindaltan@yahoo.com. im a travel agent in the philippines

I've been there 3 times already. They have the finest, most powdery white sand in the whole world. They have great accomodations at very affordable price. The food is great. And nightlife is so active. You can also get peace and quiet on the other end of the beach. I will definitely come bakc next year.

Yup, I was just there two months ago for my thesis. It's better than the coastlines of Mindoro and Batangas. But it's too commercialized already. It's getting really crowded and dirty cause of the fast-paced 'development'. There are infrastructures everywhere! If you're a nature freak and not a party animal go to Palawan, specifically the island of Coron. Now that's Paradise.

Yes. Really beautiful place. Its a "barkada"/friends place. Really fine sand, clear blue waters.
Must do while you're there:
Parasailing!
Scuba Diving
Snorkling
Banana boat ride
Jet ski
Lots of food places and bars along the beach.
In the morning til afternoon, the place is calm good for a stroll, do some activities I mentioned above and in the evening the place ( bars in the area - preferrably station 1 area) transforms into a cool place to party.

Oh my God, how can you already plan what you are doing in the summer? Anyhow, Boracay is very nice, but also very commercialized (crowded, expensive).
