why can't people rap more like Mr. Lif, Murs, Slug, Grouch, Eligh, crown city rockers, giant panda, lil brotha, mf doom, brother ali, tribe, jeru da damaja, aesop rock, del, pep love, and other people who got it?

we need someone new someone who got skillz someone with their own style.

Well I agree with you that radio sucks. It's the same 12 songs over & over all day. Jeru's cool & of course tribe, right now i like obie trice - second round's on me.

Here is the problem with rap. It has one beat like disco (and disco died for the same reason). So end up with lyrics as the main style. Well you can only talk about "gangsta life" for so long that it just gets drowned out with the other rap songs. Until rappers start changing the subject, you are going to have a mass of people playing a very slight variation on the same song.

Hip hop lost its edge years ago, its now mass marketed and been dissected by the music industry and is now a formula. Its the same with almost all parts of the music industry - Hype the crap market it. "Tell" the people what they want and restrict their choices. I can think of no other excuse for the popularity of simpering boy-men like Timberlake or a reason the Federline ability to get a record deal.

Try some Australian and New Zealand hip-hop. See if you can find stuff by The Hilltop Hoods, Phrase, Fast Crew, Butterfingers (who look like being signed to Sire Records), Bliss n' Eso, or N'Fai.

Man you just named some great rappers from different spectrums of underground hip-hop! But seriously its not that people are TRYING to create pop rap or that mainstream garbage; its their ignorance because to them they think they ARE making history and representing hip-hop in the right way because they are simple rhyming words together. Its more than that
