I just bought a Playstation 2, controller, and memory card. I had planned on going to Gamestop tomorrow and picking up Bully and Final Fantasy 12. But now I'm not so sure. I'm wondering if I should get my money back and wait for the Nintendo Wii and get the new Zelda game, wait all together until February and buy a Playstation 3, or get an Xbox 360 and Gears of War? But then again, I could always use my tax return money to buy a Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and/or Nintendo Wii at the same time if I were to decide to keep the PS2. My problem is, I lose interest in games that aren't compelling enough to hold my attention. So I'm afraid that I will get Final Fantasy 12 and/or Bully, and get bored with them and feel that I wasted the money I had spent on the new PS2, accessories, and games. What would anyone else do in my situation?

Decided to get a PS2, Final Fantasy 12, and Bully. I'm going to use my tax return to get a PS3 in February for my birthday. May sell some things to get a Nintendo Wii and Zelda:TW. Problem solved. Thanks everyone for your insight.

Honestly bro, I would wait on the PS3. Everyone who knows anything about the video game market knows that every system is the most when it first comes out around Dec. 25th and this is not by coincidence either. There are still great games for the PS2 and one the comes to mind is God of War. If you have not played that game I would strongly recommend it. Its an easy game to get into and master but it is still difficult at times. Also the 360 is still an awesome system that does the same thing as the PS3 besides play blu ray disks. Also another thing you might want to consider is the cost per game for the PS3. Since sony uses cell-architecture for their processors, game devolopers have to code their games for the cell architecture which is a lot more complicated than the x386 architecture that the Wii and the 360 uses thus the games are a lot cheaper. Look to spend about 80 bucks per game for the PS3. Also there will be no rumble feature on the PS3. I honestly wouln't buy a PS3 until its 200-250 bucks. I dont think its worth it unless you like exclusive games for sony like Final Fantasy. I hope this helps your decision.

I strongly suggest you get yourself an Xbox 360. There are only a few games out now for it that are worth buying. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Dead Rising, and The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. I don't know about racing or simulation games because I don't play them. Also Gears of War is due out in a couple of days and the game looks more promising than any game I have EVER seen. I have read that Bully is a good game, but not great. It's like GTA, but smaller, dumber, and more repetitive. The Wii MAY be another good choice. However I think you may want to wait a little while before getting it because the launch titles don't look so great. As for the PS3, pass on it. At this point in time there are a lot of rumors about the system, like overheating very quickly. Plus once again the launch titles don't look so hot. Many previews of Resistance: Fall of Man(the main launch title) have stated that the game may not be worth the wait. I too get bored of my games rather quickly. I play through the single player and beat it within 1-5 days depending on how long the game is.(I have a lot of time) Then if the game has multiplayer that is any good, I usually play that for a couple months, then give up on it. However Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter(G.R.A.W.) is the only game I haven't given up on yet. And the following titles for the Xbox 360 all look promising:some more than others)

Gears of War-Exclusive
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Call of Duty 3
F.E.A.R.
BioShock-Exclusive
Halo 3-Exclusive
GTA 4-with exclusive content.
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Resident Evil 5
Assassins Creed
Fable 2-Exclusive
Mass Effect-Exclusive
The Darkness
Splinter Cell 5: Conviction-Exclusive

Xbox 360 beter price , better games, better online play. go for the 360 dude but it dosent really matter for you dont what you want. I dont Like Final Fantasy and the ps3 is too expensive for me. The wii would be a secondary system to me. But Xbox 360 has what i want so thats why i would say xbox 360.

well id say the wii...it has sold more copies than the xbox and the ps3. i have a wii, and i think its awesome, ive played the ps3 and the graphics are cool but i dont think i would buy it. its too expensive. the 360 is pretty cool and i like their games but if i had to choose one, i would pick the wii. plus smash bros brawl is coming out, and thats just gonna make it better

well from what i know so far, the nintendo wii really does look promising, i dont think its going to be a letdown like the gamecube was, but of course, then theres the playstation3, which is obviously under a lot of hype, but my personal opinion would be to get a nintendo, great game lineup (mario/zelda/dk) + motion sensing controller + awesome price (less than half of ps3).

I'd buy the Wii, then the PS2, then the 360, then the PS3.

Wii is coolest
PS2 is cheap
360 isn't amazingly great
PS3 is increadibly expensive

...just my opinion...
