Stop talking in slang. I see so much of this stupid behavior. Go to Detroit and look at he way the people live in the hood. Or any big city for that matter. Would you really want to trade places with them? So why act like them? Eminem is not a role model!

And Kid Rock - although he is rap/rock - one of his song lines is "straight out Compton, straight out the trailer". He is from Romeo, Michigan, one of the most white, above average income neighborhood's in the Detroit area!

Chris Rock has part of his act where he states "There is no white person who would ever trade places with me..... and I'm rich!" He is commenting on the difference in treatment between white and black people in this country because of color.

You should care as it will affect you future dealings in jobs & social situations.

This is not about race. It's about someone pretending to be who they aren't. How many people do you know decide to talk with a southern accent not being from there? Or with a Boston accent?I live in a town with 98 white people and only see this "Fad". I see young white people talk like "hommies" with their friends, and then how they normally talk to adults and coworkers. We all talk different in these situations, but most people don't do a 180.

I applaud anyone who is in a bad situation who can pull themselves from a negative situation. If this was your up bringing, that's part of you. But to mimmic it because it's popular is an insult.

That depends.

IMHO it's of no importance what race you are, but apparently the person in question is interested it in, otherwise he/she would not have mentioned he/she assumed you are black.
If that is the case, I would indicate I'm white whenever this person mentions color of skin again.

And please, may I add the following to the people who are ready now to flag my answer down??

I just tried to place myself in the person the questinair is talking about, hence my answer.

My middle sis and her hubby are happily married for well over 22 years already. My BIL is from New-Guinee, hence the fact their daughter is a colored girl.
I love them all to bits, esp. my niece, and I couldn't care less if they had had a purple, lilac, green or orange skin....I would love them just as much. To me it's the "inside" that counts, not the color of the skin!

In my case i am Latino/English, so people never really know, but some people think I'm black also by the way i speak sometimes, until they see me, and they are amazed I'm not black.....but you know i say it don't matter what people think i have never bothered to correct them either.....it's funny though seeing their faces when they realize you're not what they thought you were.

To tell you the truth:I couldn't care less what "some" person has to think about in this case:me,being white, black, purple or pink.Who gives a rats ***?Well ,i don't.
There is freedom of speech and freedom of thought:let "them" think what ever they want.

Just be yourself. And if they ask, correct them. People talk different ways not because of what race you are but where you grew up at.

Get over it. If it's not important enough to make a simple correction, it's clearly not that important to you.
