So, my boyfriend are living together. We have the cat and the dog to keep us company...they're just like our children. We're waiting to have children until I finish college. We've talked about marriage and we both agreed that when I'm done with school we want to get married. Now, for some reason I can't get him to buy me an engagement ring. I've even gone as far as telling him I'll help pay for it if that's the issue. He said that money isn't the issue. I don't know what the deal is. He won't even just go and look at rings. Any suggestions into persuading him into getting me one...or even just looking at them?

The worse thing to do is pressure him about getting you an engagement ring. If he really want to marry you, he will eventually get the ring. Do not help him pay for your ring, let him pay for it. If money isn't the issue, then he's just not ready.

I think he is comfortable with the way things are and has no reason to get married. You conveniently put the cart before the horse, and have to deal with the consequences, since you didn't wait for marriage.

There really is no point in complicating this - simply, he is not ready to get engaged. When he is, he will be more willing to look at rings.
Give him a little time, he will come around. Sounds like he's got a little bit of a commitment concern :)

i mayb yng but i no stff lke ths. well frst of all he cld b either waiting 4 the perfect time cuz he has it, or he may b still searching !! Or mayb hge wnts 2 surprise u later on !! But i don't c why he wldnt buy u a ring so i wouldnt b worried girl. hope all goes well !!

You shouldnt have to persuade him into anything, he should do it willingly or its not worth having.
Just be patient.
