I would be careful about leaving wet spots on the substrate...especially closest to where the snake lays. This can and does cause scale rot. With good ventilation it's not usually a problem...just something to be aware of. A ball python I took in once had scale rot from moistened substrate...so it's just something I'm cautious about.

The humidity level should be kept between 50-60%.

I've seen the best snake enclosures that had a tub or large bowl of water with an aquarium aerator stone. I mentioned this in another post. The moving water really tends to attract some snakes. This may also lead to defecation in the water, but a quick dump and rinse and the mess is gone...:-)

Im not sure what it is supposed to be at for a boa. I have iguanas, and i manage their humidity with a humidifier. you can get them fairly cheap at walmart. Some give a percentage directly on it; but if not, pet stores sell humidifier gauges. Just set up a humidifier on a timer and keep a gauge in the boa's habitat to measure the percentage.

really if you just spray his tank down really well two or three times a week then that should do it.. for most of my snakes i just get the beading wet right above there heating pads and the water evaporates over the span of a few days.
