I had exactly the same problem at work with Apple's Mighty Mouse. The mouse worked fine until one day it stopped scrolling vertically. It turns out that many other people are experiencing the same problem. The general solution, as discussed in the MacRumors forum, is to press firmly down on the mouse button or use compressed air cleaning products to get rid of the dirt trapped between the gaps. If that doesn't work, do what I did and get the mouse exchanged, providing its under warranty.

Upgrade to a new mouse that uses an Optical mouse rather than a ball. They only cost about $10 give or take and will not clog from junk on the mousepads or tables.

Ball mouse are really not that good and do not always work well. You can try to clean it, on the bottom of the mouse is usually a lock that your turn off counterclockwise and the ball can come out. Clean off the ball and inside carefully with wipes or something (not liquids), this will get it back working usually.Hope this helps..

attempt working your mouse on yet another pc, if it works, then verify the mouse port, and insert it properly. if the undertaking persist then attempt to bathe the backside of the mouse. regardless of if this is a optical mouse, there may well be a hardware difficulty. regardless of if this is a ball mouse then take out the ball from the backside of the mouse and sparkling, restoration it lower back, and then verify

Remove the ball, clean it, blow into the mouse to clean the interior, put the ball in and retry. In most cases it works.

you can only repair it if there is any software or setting problem, if there is any hardware problem you have to replace it to work with scroll.

i need more information to give u correct solution,

is it PS2 or USB mouse, try to uninstall mouse and install it.

go to the control panel and click on mouse, see what you have selected in mouse properties ( wheel tab )

this is the tab for specially scroll option,

please let me know if you have further question.
