Sweetheart. I know exactly what you are saying and I am experiencing every single thing you are talking about right now. I do not know how old you are but this all seems to be a part of getting a little older when most of what you are talking about seems to be the case. There are some people who can live alone and have a great life. Perhaps you never had a serious relationship because as you said you never were connected. Love does not fall out of the sky for everyone. Some have to put some effort into at least know what their definition is of love and figure out if it is really worth going after. I forgot how to feel for anything. Everyone in my life has changed including myself and it is hard to feel the same about life anymore. I go on living but it is very hard to imagine life feeling as it once did. I tried going back but it didn't seem to fit anymore. I will wait to see how things unfold. The world is getting uglier to me by the minute and I hope something happens that will return some normality to the world to make it worth living in. Good luck with your life. I hope you find what you are looking for or that you will learn to be content with what you have now.

I really believe that is true--that some are destined for a solitary life. I'm not sure why. I have a few long term friends, but no extended family. I think that's the key. Those of us who have no close relatives (either by numbers or relationship) have it rougher than those who do.
Even though I'm intelligent and talented (professional musician) I've always struggled with relationships. I've seen the looks in men's eyes when they look at me and I don't like what I see. I know I'm not attractive so I simply choose to chart my own course without them.
However, I know I will never be completely alone. . .ever. God is in my life, and I know He'll be with me through eternity. (I'm not asking you to believe--just sharing what I know to be true for me.)
You can email me any time you want if you want a friend. I'm here.

Do you find it hard to meet and get close to new people? I lived in my own apartment for a couple years and in that time, I felt like I had severed ties with the entire world. It didn't help that I was suffering from social anxiety disorder.
If you're like me, then you can be happy by yourself for awhile, but eventually the loneliness will make you extremely depressed. If you're not a social butterfly, just focus on dating and developing a serious relationship with someone. Any luck and it'll lead to marriage, family, and friends and a lifetime of happiness.

I've been feeling like that alot lately. Don't worry I know what you're going through. You just have to change the way you think. Start meeting people. Once you take control of your life, everything will work out.

I have, and I'm a bit of a misanthropist. Do you feel like you are going to be alone because everyone has too many faults for you to like them? Yeah, everybody has imperfection, so some people can overlook that and some can't. Ever since I became a misanthropist my friends and I began drifting apart, like yours.

awwww Katie .... don't give up your smile :)
I assume from your Avatar you're in the nursing profession and therein lays the problem ... a great job long hours dedicated to work and intelligent ... everything a normal guy is afraid of in a girl .... you'll meet someone ... you just may have to be a little more patient than most till an equal comes along ... don't rush into anything and have to settle for something second rate :)

I often felt like that...more than five years ago. But don't be a "lonesome tumbleweed" as sung by Joan Baez. Find someone proper....Immediately.
