Does you video card support S-Video or DVI? If yes, then check if your TV supports any of those. If your video card only has a VGA output and your tv only has AV input, then you need to buy a TV box. You plug in your VGA output from video card into this box and then there is a AV output from this box to your tv. Also this box needs to be plugged into your USB port for power. This box costs about USD 40.

first you need a graphics card with tv out, and as you have an old style tv-you need to get from s-video to a normal coaxial connection so you could try this. get a video recorder(most people have one lying around nowadays)that has a scart socket, get a scart to rca adapter for about a quid plug your s-video lead in and then connect the fly lead from the video out on the video to the tv socket. a bit primative but will do what you want.
