First off, to the person who said that the West Coast is all about the bling, look at all the southern hip-hop music. I don't wanna diss anyone but 90% of southern hip-hop is garbage. Only people making good hip-hop out the south right now are Ludacris and T.I. But the south is the region that's on top right now. The East Coast, especially New York, is in a bit of a decline, which I think will be brought out of by Nas' and Jay-Z's new albums. West Coast isn't in as much of a decline as the East Coast and The Game's, Snoop Dogg's and Xzibit are all coming out with albums. In terms of history, New York is the birthplace of hip-hop but I'd have to pick the West since I live in Cali and we had Tupac, we have Dr. Dre who is THE most influential producer in the game, Snoop Dogg, and today we have The Game, whose next album is gonna be a classic if you've heard the songs he's leaked, also we got the hyphy movement up in the Bay.

The Wu is the only thing the Cheese Coast has to offer or will ever have to offer. The Cheese Coast's idols are all from the West. They still haven't came up with anything to compete with the legacy or power of NWA. Until they do they will always be the lesser coast.

Like Drexl suggested, Tupac replaced into "The Message". As in, the comparable message Grandmaster Flash had interior the music "The Message", between the 1st rap songs that relatively made it commonplace nationally. So while Grandmaster Flash replaced into speaking approximately homeless human beings, and medicines, and gangs and the topics with society....this is not any distinctive than 2pac speaking approximately teenager being pregnant in "Brenda's have been given somewhat one", or speaking approximately Latasha Harlins in "Hellrazor", or speaking approximately insurrection and crooked law enforcement officers in "Holla if Ya hear Me". He made issues very own, speaking approximately his mom's habit to drugs, coinciding with the crack epidemic on the time, and asserting issues that are nevertheless proper immediately like "you realize it relatively is humorous, while it rains it pours. They have been given money for wars yet won't be in a position to feed the undesirable.". the form of ordinary line, yet what a theory frightening line this is and nevertheless proper immediately. different memorable lines like "i assume cuz i'm black born, i'm meant to declare peace, sing songs, and get capped on", particularly a lot say all of it. He replaced into the voice of the community. He stuffed a substantial void interior the rap marketplace, and it relatively is too undesirable you won't be in a position to rejoice along with his lyrics for what they have been. you have all categories of rap and rappers. basically because of the fact 2pac isn't a lyricist like Talib or Mos Def, would not make him any much less of a rapper. He basically has his very own form and it relatively is greater direct and to the factor. some rappers prefer to impact you with punchlines, others are greater involved by attending to the factor and getting you to experience it and relate with it. 2pac replaced into the latter, and he replaced into sturdy at what he did. You needless to say relate to the lyricist form greater suitable than the direct form. So human beings like Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, NWA, and Run DMC at the instant are not "genuine hip hop" to you. this could nicely be a shame, because of the fact you're lacking out on greater than a number of sturdy music.

I do believe you are right, for the most part. I can groove to Tupac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop also though. They each bring their own to the game, without it being to commercial.
Just my opinion.
