should be fine, but know that after 30 the chances of the baby having downs syndrome are 1 in 11.

You are not considered an "older mom" until after the age of 35.
Your chances of having a baby with Downs is NOT 1 in 11. I'm 42 and my chances are 1 in 45. At the age of 32, they normally don't even recommend an amniocentesis.
If you are healthy, it is perfectly safe and secure to get pregnant for the first time at the age of 32.

sure it is so long as you are healthy yourself. My mom had me at 34 and my sister at 36. I am 25 and a mother of 1 so far myself, my sister has none yet and my mother will be 60 in a few weeks. She had no health problems before pregnancy aside from an existing weight problem and no problems during pregnancy except I think she had gestational diabetes show up for a time while pregnant with me, but nothing with my sister, she didn't even get morning sickness with either of us, she also worked up to the week before delivery with both of us.
Like I said this was 25 and 23 years ago, think how much technology has changed since then, the advancements, the new tests they can do if needed, more information available to both your dr and yourself. I don't think you have much to worry about, just keep open communication with your dr, take your vitamines, stay healthy with food and excercise and go to prenatal classes.
Best of luck to you.
to the first person to answer, I believe it is 35 when a woman would need to start thinking about the higher possibility of down syndrome.

Pretty much. The statistics for having a child with Downs or a chromosomal defect doesn't escalate until women hit 35. I just turned 32, and my OB felt that I didn't need any tests like that. And, he still calls me kiddo.
So, if you're going to have a baby now - have one now and don't wait anymore! Our biological clocks really do tick!!
Website below is for the statistics on a woman's age, for chances of downs.

In any pregnancy, the most vital issue at the time of birth is the mother's blood pressure, if it is normal the chances of a normal delivey exist. To keep the BP normal, the mothers-to-be should learn to relax, don't take tension n stress, try to stay calm and happy (even if there are no reasons to be), eat good and healthy food, don't smoke or take alcohol, don't do heavy household work etc...

I don't see why not. I've only heard of extra precautions after the age of 35, and even then it's nothing to horrible... Doctors just tend to watch things more closely. Lots of women give birth to their first child in their early 30's.

Start taking folic acid supplements long before you even think about conceiving. think about healthy habits (no cigarettes, no coffee, lots of exercise, etc) before you get pregnant. Your ob-gyn will discuss genetic testing options. You'll have monthly visits at which sugar and protein levels will be checked -- until the last couple of months at which you'll be coming in weekly.
I have my child after 40 and didn't have any morning sickness or any other problems. My daughter was born healthy with high APGAR scores.
