If you are present in Australia for more than half the year, chances are you will be considered a resident for tax purposes and will be treated the same as australian citizens in most cases.

The tax rates have dropped for this current financial year so that's a bonus. non-resident tax rates are higher, but as a non-resident you don't get taxed on foreign sourced income, while a resident does.

As a nurse, items such as your clothes, shoes, watches, technical gear and the such are a tax deduction.

If you are concerned, you can either talk to the ATO or speak to a tax agent in Australia.
