Now more than ever.
Nothing is more important than family, and marriage is what really makes a family secure.
Hopefully, people who have devalued it will eventually learn that this is why they are having so many problems.

Society needs marriage but society tries to tell us that we do not, and instead it tells us that we should live with our partners because we get the same benefits but without the responsibilities. We should not let society brainwash us. I believe you know as well as I do, that YES society needs marriage and not what's going on in today's world!

Personally I don't beleive in marriage. It never did my parents any good. I like the ring idea though. The thought that your spirits are one, thats really beautiful. But, I don't see why people feel the need to use a piece of paper, $20 and some people to watch in order for the relationship to be truely commited. Ya know?

Yes, I think we still need marriage. The insurance benefits for married couples is a good reason. If a couple lives together they cannot take advantage of the lower rates offered to married couples.
Another reason is many people are still very conservative and expect a family to consist of husband, wife, and children. Until all of these people have been convinced that marriage is no longer needed we will have to keep it around.

From a romantic point of view, yes absolutely! There's nothing nicer than declaring your love for someone in public & in a formal way..regardless of how informal the ceremony may be.
From a cynical point of view..nah, it's a waste of good money & time to promise yourself to someone for the rest of your life when there's a 50% chance one of you will change your mind.
I think it was Rod Steward who said marriage was invented when people only lived to circa age 35-40. It was possible & realistic to promise your life to someone then. Now we live so much longer, promising your life is ridiculous!
Or words to that effect.
Thanks for your question though..you gave me an epiphany.
I'd loudly proclaimed I'll never marry again, & yet I've recently been tempted by my new 'love'.
Maybe I'll accept his proposal afterall..but with vows more appropriate to this day and age.

yeah.,,,, id say so.. its a foundation..a commitment..to the person you love..
just because times have changed doesnt mean that there shouldnt be marriage..marriage is a vow to love honor and cherish.through sickness heath for richer or poor..if people in this world had good foundations and family values then the world wouldnt be as it is today...with all these diseases and all these things that go on in this world today...people have no respect today for themselves or for others.people just give in to the evils of this world, not thinking that for every action there is a reaction so therfore this world is in termoil with the reprocussions of what is a result of people not doing the right thing and people not living life how it was ment to be ...its sad!!

Nah! People should stay together because of true love btn them, NOT 4 legal reasons. When u get married, the long hand of the law forces u to stay together 4 ever. U get stuck in there, doing it with the same person over and over again!! Do u 'no how boring that is?

The human race needs offspring to continue, and children need a loving, secure home, and devoted, caring parents who are formally committed to each other. Marriage is about family, and generations, and staying together come what may.

Yes, I am a full believer in God, I believe that in order to have a full meaningfull realationship marriage needs to be preasent. Marriage does not work for many people bacause they look at it as a piece of paper, where my husband and I view it as a promise we made before God.
