If you really want to learn how to lucid dream, you need to keep an open mind. Some things you'll read may seem more far-fetched than others but may work. There are methods (they're just techniques that have worked for people) and many helpful tips on many websites. Keep a dream journal, do reality checks and read what you can about lucid dreaming. That's just the basics. www.ld4all.com is the best site I've came across- has what others have and more. There's also www.dreamviews.com and www.lucidity.com

1. set your intention both to dream, and to become aware that
you are dreaming while dreaming
2. during the day, remind yourself that this too is a dream
3. before sleep, re-affirm your intention to remember and
become aware in dreams
4. keep a journal and pen by your bed so that the first thing you
do upon waking is record what you dreamt.
5. get the book "The Tibetan Yogas of Dream & Sleep"
by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche it has more practices to help
one become lucid in dreams and also more information on
how this can be used for positive benefit.
