Meet people at the first time?

Hi,
I'm a biginner in English language, and want to know what should you say when you meet peolple at the first time, and you don't know them before.

Say "Hi" and tell them your name.

Just say hello and ask them how they are. If you need more small talk ask them where they are from. That always, or usually, sparks up a bit of conversation.
