Not any more, but when my kids were still in diapers I could smell trouble from across the room. I'm glad those days are over.

I do not think you can smell trouble, however a person has the ability to sense trouble.

I don't know if you can actually smell trouble, but I think that you can definitely sense it. So listen to your instincts even if you think only 1% of the situation is off. Just run away as fast as you can if you think something is wrong. You'll thank yourself for it.

Its an old idiom based on animal nature. e.g dogs can smell fear in humans. When frightened humans scent changes due to flow of adrenalin into the blood stream giving off pheromones thru the sweat glands.
