First off nut - if you are going to have a pet learn how to take care of it. Any caged animal has to be cleaned everyday. They do it at the pet shops, everyday clean cages. NOT 1 every 2 weeks. You deserve what you get.
When any animal poops if not cleaned up right away flies develope and then maggots or small worms.
Lady get a life you are too inmature to have pets, if you can not care for them.

It sounds to me like you don't have time to have a pet. If you cannot commit to keeping a hamster's cage clean - then you are plainly exhibiting neglectful behavior. In my opinion you have 2 options:
1)STEP IT UP and clean your hamsters cage completely each week and spot clean every 2 days or so, plus do a little research on proper care of your hamster, sounds like you need a refresher.
2)GIVE IT UP and find a friend or a neighbor who has the time to commit to taking care of this hamster. Admit defeat, and that you just don't have the time to dedicate to another living thing. It's okay to admit that.. don't make something living suffer because you are "too busy".

Larvae will thrive in places that are warm and dirty and that have a supply of organic matter to feed on. It is most likely maggots, and that is super bad. How would you like to live in conditions that are so dirty, that worms are thriving in your bed.

I agree with the other answers, but would like to add that there could be a chance that the beding material that was put into the cage was contaminated when you bought it. I had that problem once when I bought a bag for my rodents once. Try cleaning the cage more often and possibly changing the type or brand of bedding material used. A vet might know more and they often do not mind giving advice over the phone.

Probably maggots or other bug larvae. If the hamster does not have worms, it doesn't matter what kind they are. Make sure there are none in the fresh food or bedding. Wash the cage with mild soapy bleach water, rinse well, & air it well before using again.

It is probably maggots....since you didn't clean the cage for three weeks. Flys lay eggs and they hatch into maggots. Take them to the vet and let him examine them. He can tell you more, when he sees the little white worms. Good Luck.

Have a great day!

They are maggots. Maggots actually do more good then bad. They eat the bacteria, and bad stuff that grows on poo, and dead animals and stuff. They keep the world a cleaner place in a sense.

Do you know that for extreme cases in the medical field they use maggots to help heal a wound up! On either discovery, or TLC they had a special about it. Its gross, but at the same time kind of cool.

we had that problem and found that the bedding that we bought was bad. We change the bedding every week and found maggots in there. Than we looked through the bag of bedding and found them in there too. So make sure you buy small bags of bedding and not bulk because you will continue to have the problem

They are the larvae of small gnats they love anything damp or wet and kinda funky. Seen any gnats lately ? Keep the cage clean or you'll soon have hundreds.

Maybe it's maggots... cause of her poop that attracts flies... take her to the vet just incase it's worms...
