That is the power light and if the screen is black and you are running windows XP or windows 2000, it means that your computer is in standby mode. it is a mode that puts your computer into a low power state that saves power and makes booting up fast but only becuase the computer doesnt realy turn off. all the data that was in system memory is still there and a loss of power to your computer would cause windows to need to start from a fresh boot.

SWITCH OFF the computer
and remove Internet and power connections.
to avoid damage to the computer.
I don't have this facility in my laptop. Guess only !
As a HAM radio operators we MAY disconnect the
Antenna connections to our TX/Rx. during rains.. AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION.

you have spyware on your pc and that bolt of lightening was informing you that somebody was trying to hack your email and personal effects
