I know mexicans are not the only people that do it, but it is common for some to do so thats where the name came from. I'm talking about when people blow their horn in front of someones house or apartment rather than get out of the car and knock on the door. It drives me nuts especually when people do it late at night or early in the morning. A light tap is fine, but some people will lay on the horn over and over again. I think it is low class, what do you think?

I agree with you 100%. I have people that drive up in my driveway and blast their horn, my husband and I both hate that. they are to lazy to knock on the door and sometimes it is late at night or early in the morning. I don't like people to wake me up or disturb me that way and I also hate it when I hear it in someone else's yard as well. It drives me crazy and you don't know if its in your yard or someone else's. Plus, I have children that try to sleep or my boy says someone's here or they make our dog bark. Come on people walk that extra mile to the door.

I've tooted my horn on occasion, but not to the point where I hold it down for a minute. Most times though I get out and go to the house. I can't even remember the last time I beeped my horn for someone to come out. I have noticed that the younger kids do beep their horns more often than us middle aged people. They always have somewhere to go. I remember when my friends would beep the horn impatient for me to get in so we could leave.

I think it is pretty low class and lazy! A few of my husbands friends do it and they know it infuriates me. So, they do it more.
Well, I open the curtain and wave at them then I close it. Sometimes, they think I am the nut and they just drive off. Other times, they just keep blowing. Now, I really get aggravated and open the window and tell them Mc Donald's is across town and I shut the window. The dummies just sit there waiting and waiting!

I totally agree, the people who live across the street from me must be in some kind of cult where horn blowing is the only way of communicating.

I only do that if we are late getting somewhere and don't have time to mess around. I would never honk if it was late though. I have some friends that if you leave the car they want to take you on a tour of their house, that you've seen 80 times before, before they will leave to go to the movie you were supposed to be at 20 minutes ago...

i find it funny that you call it "Mexican Doorbell" when REAL mexicans, not illegals living here, Can;t even afford cars. anyway, i'd prefer the "Doorbell" as the alternitive is what i call "the chicano knock and walk". you know walking in while knocking on the door.

it is awful to see the ""mexican doorbell "" abused in such a manner, I think all people that abuse the ""mexican doorbell"" should be forced to ride ''the shame train'' (Bus) until they realize driving is a priviledge and the horn is for occasional or emergency use only .

I think anyone who does that has no manners & is selfish. And if I find out their day off & where they live I would have no problem setting my alarm clock to go return the favor.

100% agreement with you, especially with cell phones in use, if you're too lazy to get out of the car, call them on the cell phone, and only wake up their household, not the whole damn block, thank you.
