Help me with my iPod!!?

Ok, so my new iPod Shuffle (2nd generation) arrived today in the mail. So I began using it, as I imagine any normal human being would've done. I used the dock a couple of times, and now, it stopped working. When it DID work, I would plug in the iPod, the light on the bottom would flash a couple of times, and if i had iTunes up, my iPod would appear under devices. if iTunes wasnt up, it would come up when my iPod was recognized. The USB ports are all fine, I don't understand what happened to my dock. My parents and I were both happy that it came, but now since the dock stopped working... I havent told them about it yet, so I dont know what they'll say but i say HELP ME PLEASE

I think i know your problem,just do this

Go to the apple/ipod website

There is a program called "ipod software" that erases everything on your ipod but makes it new like how you just bought it this morning.
