They make this nail polish that you paint your nails with and it makes them taste bitter when you bite them. Also remember that when you bite your nails that you are taking in germs and the worst thing is you can get worms! OMG...worm eggs hide underneath nails and when you bite your nails you ingest them. Think of everything you touch (keyboard, door handles) and think of how many people touched those things before. You could also have your nails done...who would want to mess up a new set of nails! Seriously...try the bitter polish (you can get it anywhere like Wal-Mart)and stop this bad habit before you get really sick. Also guys love girls with pretty nails (pretty nails do a better job scratching backs!) trust me STOP and enjoy beautiful healthy nails!

Take it from someone who had the habit for 35 years...bitter or not you'll still bite them. I finally broke down and decided to get nails from a salon. Yes they can be a bit pricey...but I wouldn't know what to do if it weren't for them...just a word of caution...if you are a true biter and you get "fake" nails...be prepared not to be able to function with them if you get the nails too long in length...lol...now its just the opposite for me...if I break a nail...I might as well loose the whole finger...

I bit my nails until I was 40 and finally gave up and got acrylic nails, I have them done every few weeks. My hands actually look pretty. It's well worth the half hour every few weeks that you have to spend getting them filled. Just be sure to pick a very clean establishment.

This might sound crazy but put pepper under your painted nail. If your nail is painted no one will see the pepper. Then when you go to bite your nail you will probably sneeze. It works.

I use to bite my nails until I was 12 years old. I realized that this was not beneficial in any manner and just a bad habit. I simply made a conscience effort to recognize it for what it was and stopped.

You are in control of your actions. Stay aware of what your problem is and make an effort to fix it. Whatever triggers the desire to bring your fingers to your mouth must be interceded with a viable effort on your part. It will not take long to stop it. It is simply a matter of readjusting your behavior by paying attention to what you are doing.

Good Luck
