What would happen if a person drank deionized water? Could a person live off that instead of drinking regular water?

They would immediately become... LESS THIRSTY!

Heh. Deionized water is just a fancy name for extremely pure water. It has been so thoroughly cleaned by filtration and iron exchange that it has a resistance to electric current of 18 megaohms... much greater than ordinary tap water. It's got no negative impacts on the human body (well, I suppose you could drown in it) so you could drink it, bathe in it, use it for cooking, etc. This would be a very expensive way to get your drink on, but it won't hurt you.

You ever watch Survivorman? He has very little food to eat and spends 7 days in some remote place. Go watch that and you'll see what happens if you starve yourself for a week. Fact of the matter is Water has no calories. Means no energy. You could drink all the water you want and you would be just as messed up as Survivorman -- actually worse, he atleast finds bugs and plants to eat (or the random snake, rabbit, or fish if he is lucky). A water diet provides absolutely no nutrition -- no protein, no vitamins, nothing. You actually do need these things (even fat you do need to eat). So, your body would first begin to use the stored energy it has. This would come from your fat, so if you are already a thin person you're screwed. Why? The body's secondary source of stored energy is muscles. So you would essentially be eating your own muscles if you only drank water and ate ice.

Absolutely nothing. Deionized water is simply water that has had all cations and anions such as Calcium, Sodium & Chlorine removed from it. Of course there are still some H+ & OH- ions which are impossible to separate from water. There also may contain some non-ionic compounds in deionized water such as organic compounds.

Nothing at all. There have been many claims that it would ;suck the nutrients out of one's body' becasue of the extremely low osmolarity, but these claims are simply incorrect.
