I recently bought a bracelet that has black beads and metal squares on it.
I wore it the whole day and forgot to take it off at night and when I woke up, my arm was green where the metal was and my wrist was itchy and bumpy for a day or two. The bumps resmbled little bug bites, but I know it was from the bracelet.

Does anyone know what is up with my reaction to the bracelet and what I can do?

As someone mentioned, it's probably an allergy to nickel, which is the most common metal allergy, though the turning green has nothing to do with an allergy. To avoid the rash from this bracelet and from other metal items that may come into contact with skin (snaps, earrings, necklaces, watches, even cheerleading megaphones--yes, it happened to me), coat the metal that touches skin with clear nail polish. It'll have to be reapplied once every month or so, but it works. Good luck!

P.S. Surgical steel jewelry is nickel-free, in addition to gold and silver.

Your body is having an allergic reaction to the metal in the bracelet...you may have a problem wearing less expensive jewelry

I would wash the area w mild soap and apply a hydrocortisone cream or a calamine lotion- also you can paint the metal w clear fingernail polish so the metal does not touch your skin- sounds like an allergy to nickel- D

The bracelet was a fake first of all. second u r allergic to the metal. like my brother who cant where a belt buckle. His fingers also break out when he plays the guitar. Use hand sanitizer to clear up the bumps. thats what he does

i get this too with some fake stuff, i dont think its an allergic reaction simply that there is a copper compound in the metal (its really cheap) i tend to coat the back with a layer of clear nail varnish, it works a treat.

yes, you are allergic. clearly the metal isn't good quality. my mum had an experience like this ages ago, and i had one the other day. i was wearing this new watch (on sale for $30) from a "good" jewellery store. i was allergic to the metal buckle thing, so i got a more expensive watch instead. my advice, get better quality jewellery.

Hi! You probably are allergic to nickel and unless jewelry is made with sterling silver, pure silver or really pure gold, it is made with nickel. You are like me---I can only wear expensive metals, wood or plastic. Good luck sweetie. You have princess blood!
