Our families have known each other since I was about 3 (now 31). The last time I saw her was probably about 10 years ago. I want to stay around $20.

Truthfully, I don't think a gift is appropriate because you have been out of each other's lives for so long, so for you to ackowledge this major milestone in her life because you haven't been present for the last 10 years' worth of milestones is pointless.

I am going on the assumption that your parents will be sending a gift, and if they are, sign your name to the card. If your parents are not sending a gift, you can send a card with a warm, thoughtful note. Perhaps you could insert a small photo of the two of you as children in the card and remind her how much you enjoyed growing up with her. These types of things mean much than traditional gifts.

If you have any old pictures of the two of you and your families over the years, take them to Wal-Mart and have copies made of the photographs. Then place them in a photo album or a scrapbook. The copies only cost from 15 to 20 cents apiece. The photo album is inexpensive as well. The thought you put into it will make it priceless. Your friend will treasure this gift forever.

Good Luck!

around $20 I think a gift card is ideal.. does she like reading? or a CD of her favorite music? Does she like coffee? perhaps a gift card from Starbucks. A fancy shawl. Beauty saloon for manicure/pedicure. good luck

Get something from Victoria Secrets or Bath and Body Works, they both have yummy smelling goodies in there. OR just take her out to dinner and drinks...
