This from prominent neo-conservative Richard Perle - once a huge advocate of the Iraq invasion:

"The levels of brutality that we've seen [in Iraq] are truly horrifying, and I have to say, I underestimated the depravity," Perle says now, adding that total defeat—an American withdrawal that leaves Iraq as an anarchic "failed state"—is not yet inevitable but is becoming more likely. "And then," says Perle, "you'll get all the mayhem that the world is capable of creating."

Yes it's the disaster that most people with any knowledge of the Middle EAst forecast.
When you bomb a country back to the stone age after over twenty years of war and sanctions causing the deaths of millions of people and impoverishing the survivors it should be no surprise that you end up with a lawless society.

We should colonize Iraq.

Bring landless Americans and Latin Americans into Iraq, give them land grants, strengthen the bases, use firebombings to annihilate the Shia and Sunni opposition. We should encourage Americans to learn Arabic and Islam, and become more Moslem than the Moslems, while also protecting and encouraging the Mesopotamian and Orthodox Christian communities there.

We can win Iraq. Take some lessons from the Norman Conquest, the English conquest of Ireland, and the American Expansion across North America.

Don't be such ninnies. We can win this thing. Let the Army, Marines, and Air Force craft the policies and fill their needs, and they will win it.

well this is what we get when we are ignorant of other peoples cultures and religions. We cant just go in and expect people to welcome us as saviors. The british made that same mistake when the Battle of New Orleans happened. We need to study history and learn from past mistakes.
