1296 if the question was really written that way. If it was written as 5x4*2-4^2 where ^ indicates that the 2 is an exponent, then the answer is 24.

^5x4*2-4)^2 =(5x8-4)^2 =(40-4)^2=36^2=1296
However, 5x4*2-4^2=5x4*2-16=20*2-16=40-16=24 This is the way you wrote it originally.
and 5x(4*2-4)^2=5x(8-4)^2=5x4^2=5x16=80.....

i'm going to tutor you step by skill of step with selection one, hopefully you get the draw close of it. 4(-5)+7x3+3(-5)-2x3 Use the PEMDAS: like mentioned until now. (Parenthesis, Exponents.... something) -20 +7x3+3(-5)-2x3 I superior the 1st parenthesis, 4 circumstances unfavourable 5. each little thing else an identical. -20 +7x3- 15 -2x3 superior the subsequent set of parenthesis -20 + 21 - 15 - 6 Multiplies 7 circumstances 3 and -2 circumstances 3 a million - 15 - 6 -20 plus 21 is a million, & deliver something down. -20 once you subtract all of those, Your answer must be -20. those are the difficulty-unfastened steps to all your questions. attempt it (:

is it 36?
5 times 4 equals 20
20 divided by 2 equals 10
10 minus 4 equals 6
6 times 6 equals 36
it can also be -6
4 squared equals 16
so now the equasion would be 5 x 4 * 2 - 16
5 times 4 equals 20
20 divided by 2 equals 10
10 minus 16 equals -6

If there are no brackets, use the higher operations first, thus:
(5*4*2) - 4 = 40-4 = 36

PEMDAS--- Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction. Remember this sentence: Please Excuse Me Dear Aunt Sally.
Follow the order of operations to figure this out. There are no parentheses, so start with your exponent. Is just the 4 squared or is it (2-4) squared? I'm not sure what you meant here.In any case... follow the steps and you will get it.

You must do each operation in the right order.
First, square 4. 16
Then multiply. 5 x 16 = 80
Then subtract 80-4=76
