My best friend is 26 year old gay man and is dating a 16 year old high schooler in Florida. He is a good person, but I think he is going on a very dangerous path here? How can I convince him to stop? He tells me they are not doing anything sexual, and that love is beyond age and blah blah, and is rather hard headed, but he is my best friend and I am worried about him...

That is a bad, bad deal. Get him out while you can. I have a friend who was 22 and slept with a 16 year old (stupid, stupid, I know) and now he has to walk up to everyone in his neighborhood and tell them he is a sex offender, by law. He is wearing the Scarlett Letter because he was "in love" and all that other bs he told us at the time. Now he is effed for life. Tell him to get out of it, whatever you do. He is an actual child predator.

I love how everyone completely ignored the fact that nothing sexual is happening.

Honestly, I think it comes down to how well you know your friend: will he wait the couple years till sex is legal, or will he be indiscrete before then? Because, in all honesty: if he's not being sexual with this boy, then I don't necessarily see anything terrible about it. Chances are, the kid will get impatient for sex anyway and date someone his own age. Failing that, I guess I fail to see the huge moral problem with them dating, and I fail to see an eventual moral problem with them having sex once they're both adults able to give consent.
That said, if you think he's going to have problem waiting, you could outline the costs of such an indiscretion in that if there's a break up, the kid might turn him in. And if there's not, the kids parents probably will. I'd stress that there's a really good chance he'll "get caught".

Love is not bound by age. But the LAW is. I am a very openmind person, but he is definately taking a dangerous path playing around with children. I mean if he has parental consent that is one thing, but I highly doubt a good parent would allow this. You need to tell him that what he is doing is illegal. Not to mention teenagers are driven, no COMPELLED by hormones. The boy isnt even in college yet. And that is when he will meet most of the people in his life. Try and reason with your friend, if that is possible.

in case you dont think of miscarriages are manslaughter then you definately're a hypocrite and in case you do think of that then you definately're an fool. If a fetus isn't needed then a female ought to have the main remarkable to do away with it. it relatively is all properly and sturdy so which you may get philosophical approximately it however the reality maintains to be that the regulation does no longer something yet serves to deliver extra emotionally handed over and socially undesirable people into society.

It is so wrong and illegal!!!! A good person doesn't find youngsters to have sex with. I don't buy the 'we're not doing anything wrong thing'. And if this 16 yr old is the same sex he better hope the kid has parents with an open mind cause they are going to double the heap of pain they'll inflict on him!

The 16 year old is a minor and your friend wold be in grave trouble if he was turned in for it. He should leave the 16 year old alone until he turns 21 and he can make up his own mind.

Sounds like you've already tried! He's not going to listen to you (he's already proven that). What he's doing IS dangerous, because I doubt they'll be able to abstain from sex till the high schooler turns 18, and then your friend can be charged with Statutory Rape.

<>You need to make him understand that he could be arrested on a variety of serious charges that could wind him up in jail, including statutory rape, sodomy, contributing to the delinguency of a minor and even kidnapping (if they take off together). He is also liable to be sued by the parents if the kid ends up with HIV/AIDS or some STD. His path is dangerous, indeed. He needs to stop right now...love be damned!

It is a but tough and if you have told him how you feel and he doesn't listen there isn't alot you can do. He must really like this boy and realise how wrong it is. If you keep on telling him its wrong you may lose ya best friend. maybe sometimes all you can do is sit back and ride the wave till it crashes.
