If the water is recycled then how am i wasting water when i leave the tap water on?

Yes, the water is recycled. By the earth. But that takes centuries. Tap water is treated, pumped, cleaned, and prepared for use before it reaches your home. That takes time, energy, and money. Letting it all run down the drain throws all that effort away. And YOU have to pay for the privilige.

They mean "Don't let the water running because it waste electricity". Whether you get it from a well or the local water company it takes electricity to pump it, and electricity cost money. Somewhere along the line they got their nouns mixed up. So next time they yell at you for it, make sure to correct them. I am sure they will appreciate you standing there letting the water run and explaining to them that you are not wasting water. LOL

tap water has to be cleaned to be reused.
it is expenses to do so.
better to save than to pay over an over again for that same fresh water.
