If you're still having regular cycles you will probably be okay. I'm overweight myself, but I've never had irregular periods, and I was able to get pregnant after one month of trying. I had a fairly routine pregnancy, no gestational diabetes or anything...my blood pressure did become elevated in the last 2 weeks and my doctor decided to induce labor (which was fine by me) but the blood pressure increase was due to my extreme stress and nervousness about the baby, labor, etc (I've always been prone to anxiety attacks) but they didn't find any other indications of pre-eclampsia. Just hoping to ease your mind a little. Although extra weight can cause complications, it doesn't happen to everyone. If can manage to lose a little before you get pregnant, however, it will make you feel better during your pregnancy.

it could make it harder to conceive. I never knew why but it seems to be true. I am more overweight than that and my first pregnancy it took 6 months to conceive and losing 5-10Lbs. I weigh right now about the same and have been trying for 6 months again, but not pregnant yet. When I got pregnant with my son I was 275 after I had lost that little bit of weight, then I lost 20Lbs in the 1st 4 or so months from 24/7 nausia, I was never sick though. Some days I wish I could have been so I could get on with my day and feel better. I gained 40 with my pregnancy, then lost 20 leaving me at my starting weight, in the last 2 years I put back on 10, so I guess I need to work on loosing that before I have a better chance of conceiving again.

We are hoping for a girl, my husband wants a girl, his family wants a girl, I am sure that mine does too. I just hope for a second healthy baby, smaller but healthy just the same.
My son just turned 2 last week and it is time for a sibling.

I was overweight when I began to try to get pregnant with my second child. My OBGYN told me that my being overweight WOULD make it harder to conceive.
I did end up getting pregnant after using Clomid...but I also developed gestational diabetis.
Do lose a bit of weight before you get pregnant. It will make it easier to get pregnant...plus you and the baby will be healthier. Good luck!

No it won't affect your fertility. You will be of higher risk for gestational diabetes & pre-eclampsia.

Just don't try to lose weight when pregnant. Concentrate on eating healthy, and drinking plenty of water. Stay away from pastas as much as possible. Your OB will recommend that you gain not so much weight this time around - usually it's like 15 lbs. But don't worry, you'll gain all baby weight if you eat right.

I don't know if it would make it harder but it would complicate your pregnancy. My advise is lose some of the weight (or try) and then consider getting pregnant. You want to be healthy when you conceive so you have a healthy pregnancy.

whoever said no is wrong I've taken human anatomy classes in which i have learned otherwise...being significantly overweight can hinder your chances of getting pregnant as well as being underweight this is because in your adipose tissue (fat) stores estrogen and if you are overweight your body will produce so much estrogen the body will react as if it is on birth control and if you are underweight not enough estrogen is produced...all of this relates back to ovulation and basically being over or underweight will mess up your cycle. However in only about 10% of infertility cases weight is the issue. good luck! and talk to your doctor

No but by being overweight, it poses a higher risk for you and the baby, I would strongly recommend losing the extra weight before you do, even fifteen pounds would help. Talk to your doctor and see what she/he says about. Good Luck
