it was and is free labor, they dont have to pay the person working their butt off for them. It what drives this want for them. But it comes with the cost of you taking someones livelihood and saying you are better than that person when in actuality you are doing far worse. In civil war times they needed slaves out in the fields for the huge amount of profit these plantation owners where getting from cotton which was labor intensive, it is a horrible thing and still exisit in the world.

It became significant as that became between the main needed ameliorations between the North and the South. The North had long abolished slavery while the South needed slavery to be certain in some way. This of direction did no longer take place (The 1850 Compromise, etc pushed them extra aside) additionally, the Emancipation Proclamation grew to become the civil conflict right into a conflict of freedom, which meant that there may be no foreign places intervention (subsequently the Confederacy does no longer be aided - lots to their sadness). Wow - that's magnificent what lectures bore into you :)

The south benefited not only from the institution of slavery as cheap labour but by counting the slave as part of the census that would determine representation in Congress. Hence the south had much more say in the Federal government and economy than it deserved.
Freeing the Slaves is not the same as Liberating them and thus the issues asssociated with American Racism are still alive and well. Read the Geneva Accords on Pows and you will begin to understand what I mean by Liberation!

Not just slavery is important. Besides, if you don't understand your history you are doomed to repeat the mistakes of it. People who understand its dynamics and not just the actions are the ones talking about it (and other history as well). It sounds like you're looking at this issue from an incompassionate point of view, anyway. Maybe you haven't looked into the issue enough to form a well-informed opinion...

It was part of the cause of the war because some people believe that all humans are people. It is still important because it is history and we should learn from our past mistakes.

Slavery has been since the caveman hit a woman over the head and dragged her to his cave. It means to me is, at another man/woman's mercy, something you cant count on having all the time (like with Jesus), mercy, to chore for them with no self worth of your own for yourself or your family. But to chore for your master only,(being mankind) which is wrong. During the Civil War or prior to it was a great problem and at the same time an asset to those on both sides, but they could not reach a compromise of wages to be paid to the slaves, for many remained to tend and look after their masters for they were not mistreated. Not all slaves were killed and beaten. It was a way of life and the majority ruled. At the time of the inception of this country their were servants, and they held a proud position amongst their people, as a butler in England. Working their way up through the ranks to outlive the hierarchy and out weigh the Monarch rulership here and everywhere. This type of life existed in good ways and bad dating back to the Pharoahs when Moses freed those slaves. A very brutal subject for mankind to attempt to cover up it will always weigh heavily on the minds of those who were oppressed until we all achieve this freedom together it will remain a part of our society, like leap frog. Every one has their rights yes but some are not as talented as others but who is to say my talent of as a servant is not as equal as the person who is in charge, a happy medium between the two has to be resolved and pride has much to do with the subject of slavery or a servant. Profitteers did all they could (Calhoun, southern Politician) who were in league with a very larcinist bunch from here in America and the Europe Monarchs, England,Spain, France, Germany etc. to over throw this government with the Southern regime ruling in slaves and property to resume the culture of Monarchy and be rich landowners, upon this knowledge Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, fought vigorously with these elements ending up with Jefferson giving France the ultimatum of War. We won to a point for it only ended up with more conspiracies, and treachery and treason against our free country of democracy. However it lead to the Civil War certainly after that we ran into the problem of wages and classifications. The discrimination of certain types, which just about everyone was the wrong type unless you were a relative or rich to those ruling in this government and it is still going on today. You could have a Billion dollars and not be invited to the White House for dinner, money is still not the answer here it was not ever about money it was about control, power, rulership, King/Queen of the mountain, and there is never enough room for the unwanted, of which that is the opinion of those at the top. A mass of people threaten the people at the top therefore this will depict control and to keep you down they will make you in a lower rank and stages of living (limit your education) as to where your public schools are way under staffed and under the levels of higher education. This is just the beginning, education, for when you have education you still have many doors to open to true freedom and that is not easy nor is it possible if you are a threat to those in power.

slavery was one defining difference between the north and south.it was the most obvious even though parts of the north still had "defacto" slavery. The type of slavery most predominant now is that known as "wage slavery".

why well because i kinda think that white men didnt want to actually have to start actually doing their own work instead of building a country off the backs of slaves!!!! i am not racist to let u kno my bf is white, but it is still important today because it just is, i like learning about my country's history both the black and white part of it!!! i hate when people say to just get over it, it is easy for white americans to say that because it wasnt their ancestors who went through it, i mean i didnt go through slavery but my ancestors did!!! i feel some sort of connection, my grandma tells me about segregation and stuff she went through, it makes me realize how lucky i am to have opportunitites in life, i think that all people need to learn about, it will teach blacks to be appreciative and it will teach whites what a struggle blacks had back then, i also think about how things would be if it was still like that now, and i have came to the conclusion that i would have told white people to kill me, because i dont know how black people lived through all that. there is no way i am going to be calling anyone master!!!! and i also wanna say that i wish people would stop saying get over it how about we enslave ur or some of ur family members or tell u that u can only get the crappy **** while i get the nice **** because of ur race or religion, and lets see how easy it is for u to get over, i mean i dont expect jews to get over the holocaust, they may forgive the germans but that pain and suffering will always be there no matter how many years ago it was!!!!

Cheap labor is the secret of generating massive wealth. Having a labor force that you do not have to grant rights or freedoms to is an enormous benefit to unscrupulous farmers, manufacturers, and other pimps.
