There are not too many Hotels by the basin, it is a away from the Downtown area. The closest about five blocks away, The Courtyard by Marriott on 419 2nd St, cross street is Folsom. Be advised parking is very expensive at the Hotel and the Ballpark.

Well, I'd advise against staying in the immediate neighborhood of 3com. It's just not that nice or safe. Look at the link below. Most of the hotels that are advertised as "3Com park hotels" are actually airport hotels. I would definitely consider looking a little south of 3Com, toward the airport for a close, affordable hotel. I like the Oyster Point Marina hotel (there are others, Embassy Suites and maybe a Marriott over in the same "business park" area by Oyster Point). But, Oyster Point Marina is cute -- it's on a little marina, with a restaurant and boats. AND, it is pretty close to 3Com, without having to worry about your personal safety. Oh, and these hotels really aren't that far from 3com.

You're very close to SFO (the airport) at 3 com. There are tons of inexpensive hotels all around that area. Try the Best Western El Rancho Inn & Suites in Milbrae. It should be cheap, close to 3 com, and easy to get to.
