everyone says that I'm talented in writing, do I? but why I never win such writing competitions in school, even if I've done my best? why can't I be like my younger sister? I'm a dust compared with her. i don't think I am really talented at all. I know I'm not confident, so what do you think about this (a piece of my poem)? Honestly. thanks everyone.

I can feel your presence beside me when you’re absent,
As clearly as a vista when the fog faded and the rainbow emerged
Because when you’re absent, my child, I opened my heart,
and the memories of time we spent together are widely ajar.

Do you know the future, lad?
So just closed your eyes and find it.
Because the future is at the front of the leading lead of this very road,

Smelled like summer in the breeze of the winter’s wind.
As I’m convinced to your rejoinder someday,
And we’ll be there laying our back upon the real savannah,
watching the stars in the depth of the night,
placing our parted heart to a whole union

The more you worry about your ability the less creative you become. Creativity comes from a very pure part of your soul, it can't be mucked up by feelings of low self esteem and doubt. A good poet does read other poetry and learn from those they love reading, also by learning proper techniques and such...but I can tell you, a good artist is an island within their own creativity. It is very personal. You must not have confidence, you need to stride past that even, you must have an absolute knowing of yourself and why you write. Brilliance is born when there is no effort of brilliance. It is an energy that has no conscience bearings, it rides above the psyche and is a tapping into the ultimate energy that encompasses everything. You write as a way to revel within that gift we've been given - life.

If you write to perform and gain esteem you will only write for a false concept. Strive for that inner stream of soul, when the words slip off your tongue, then go and make minor touch ups. The part that has worth cannot be contrived no matter how much education you have.
